As with LLI’s other events, the afternoon at Provision Theater in Chicago on September 23 was as much a gathering of good friends as it was a fundraiser. The event raised more than $2,500, including online monetary gifts.
Longtime supporters, as well as new friends, enjoyed the production Shaw vs. Chesterton, the Debate, followed by a wine and cheese reception.
Guests were able to mingle and to chat with board members and volunteers. And everyone enjoyed a delicious spread of breads and cheeses and wine served in beautiful stemware etched with LLI’s name and logo, a donation of 4Imprint. Guests took home their glasses as a thank you gift. (Additional glasses can be purchased for $10 each.)
A few attendees of the play stopped to talk and find out more about LLI. It was great to see people so interested in the work that Lara DeVries and her team are doing in Peru. Board member Amy Ravenhorst shared her recent experience in Huaycan, including her work with the children and their excitement over a first-ever trip to the zoo, which involved hundreds of photos of animals on Amy’s camera.
Two of LLI’s newer volunteers were a big help with set-up and service—Jeannette, a grad student at Trinity Christian College, and Megan, the Carl Sandburg High School LLI Ambassador. Thanks to them and to all of the board members!
The folks at Provision were awesome hosts, working with Light and Leadership’s Board to arrange for a reduced ticket price; a special check-in, during which LLI guests received those much-loved “people pins”; and a space for everyone to gather over refreshments.
LLI’s next–and most festive event–is the annual Alpaca Party on November 24. It’s another wonderful coming together of LLI friends and family to support the organization, have great food and fellowship, and shop for Christmas presents at the Peruvian Market!
