Every month the Women’s Program holds a biohuerto, or “community gardening”, workshop for the women in both Zone Z and Zone S. These workshops teach women about growing their own vegetables like lettuce, carrots and radishes, as well as fruit trees we planted in the community for the women to collectively care for. Our latest biohuerto about avocados was particularly fun- mostly because we ended the workshop by making homemade guacamole! The women loved learning about how to best grow their own avocado trees, but not as much as trying guacamole for the first time. Even the kids of Zone S stopped by for the feast! Special Thanks to Jessie L. Sweet for the Guacamole 🙂
